The objective of Remedy Health Career Centerâs Certified Nurse Aide Program is to train students, using an 100 hour course of classroom, lab and clinical instruction. Students aquire satisfactory skills and will be able to demonstrate competency in a variety of Nurse Aide procedures.
Upon satisfactory completion of the training program, our students will be qualified to assume entry-level positions in Hospital Care Settings, Nursing Homes, and Home Health Aide Agencies. Graduates will receive a Certificate upon completion and are then eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Exam offered through NACES Plus Foundation / Pearson. After successfully passing the national exam, students will be registered with the State of Georgia on the Certified Nurse Aide Registry. For more information, please visit www.mmis.georgia.gov (click on ''nurse aide'' on the top menu bar).
The State of Georgia does not license or perform background checks on CNAs, which means Certified Nurse Aides in Georgia must be licensed through the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program inorder to be placed on the registry. The exam costs $112 to take, once you have completed an approved CNA training program in Georgia. (We are state approved by the Georgia Medical Care Foundation). CNA License's must be renewed every two years, at no cost, but one must work eight hours as a Certified Nurse Aide and receive 12 hours of âin-service educationâ over the same time period.
The job of a certified nurse aide is vital in the healthcare field and as the demand for Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) increases, many people are choosing to become a CNA.
Are you one of those individuals?
CNA (Certified Nurse Aide) certification is a common entry level position for healthcare workers and may spark a lifelong career in the filed as one pursues further training and moves up the ranks to become an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), RN (Registered Nurse), and beyond.
Certified Nurse Aides work under the supervision of a registered nurse. They provide basic care to the patients. They spend the maximum amount of time with the patients compared to any other staff in the healthcare facilities. Sometimes a CNA may work with a patient for many days, whereas others may work only for one shift.
CNAs have the following functions and duties:
⢠Helping the nurse with basic medical procedures.
⢠Taking vitals signs.
⢠Helping patients walk.
⢠Help assist patients in and out of their beds.
⢠Help with patient baths or showers.
⢠Maintain patientâs room.
⢠Be there for them if they need to simply talk.
⢠Helping patientâs eat or drink.
The CNA is required to be proactive with the other members of the healthcare team to provide care to the patients in a timely manner. The nurse aide is required to work in teams and at certain times must be able to show the signs of a team leader.
Though this is a demanding job, it is of prime importance to the health care industry. With the absence of CNAs, the medical facilities will not be able to give specialized attention and care to the patients, which they rightly deserve.
